Credit Manager



The Credit Manager is accountable for the entire credit granting process, including the consistent application of a credit policy, periodic credit reviews of existing customers, and the assessment of the creditworthiness of potential customers, with the goal of optimizing the mix of company sales and bad debt losses. The Credit Manager will also be responsible for managing the credit and collections team, including developing and improving metrics for departmental performance, ongoing training and development of the team, and developing policies and processes in concert with other departments such as sales, marketing, and customer support.


One special responsibility of the Credit Manager will be to drive automation and simplification of technically complex billing processes. You must be comfortable around software designed for power and flexibility rather than user-friendliness.  Limited support is available, but you are expected to implement change directly rather than simply request it.


  • Review and approve credit applications (credit reports, financial statements)
  • Periodic credit reviews of existing customers along with adjustments for seasonality
  • Negotiate documentation and payment terms with customers
  • Identify and drive opportunities for automation
  • Provide robust A/R reporting and analytics to support strategic and day-to-day operations
  • Develop and enforce policies around suspension of delinquent accounts
  • Supervisory responsibilities including goal setting, coaching, and performance management
  • Work with other departments to identify system improvements
  • Create risk management policies for new products being released
  • Resolve escalations of largest customer issues


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field, MBA a plus
  • 6+ years of credit experience
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • Proficient in reading / interpreting financial statements for the purpose of underwriting credit
  • Direct experience with report-building in financial software such as NetSuite or SAP
  • Strong computer skills - Word, Excel (pivot tables), willingness to learn basic SQL queries
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Ability to manage relationships both internally and externally
  • Problem solving and customer service skills
