Overview

Stamps.com is seeking an exceptional candidate to fill the position of QA Engineer for our Server team in Quality Assurance. This individual will be responsible for testing our various APIs as well as the inter-farm communication of back-end servers.  This IS NOT a front-end automation position.

Responsibilities

  • Work with local and remote teams of analysts to determine automation opportunities in upcoming server releases, then design and build solutions
  • Create and execute a split/deploy test strategy
  • Identify gaps in existing automation and regression efforts and provide solutions
  • Maintain existing automation and regression suites
  • Present and demo new automation tools to the rest of the team as well as create documentation to be used as a reference
  • Test Web Services and other integration projects performing functional tests and data validation
  • Prepare test strategies and write test cases based on requirements, functional and/or technical specifications and other documents
  • Determine best methods to integrate new features into existing regression suites
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing application defects
  • Accurately identify and document software defects with reliable steps to reproduce
  • Ability to track requests through multiple server applications/interfaces
  • Run existing or new test automation scripts as needed, and analyze/report results
  • Troubleshoot and test environmental issues as necessary
  • Work closely with development, product and other team experts to gain a clear understanding of requirements
  • Must be flexible and capable of multi-tasking, working on multiple projects in parallel
  • Capable of setting and meeting scheduled estimates, timelines and milestones

 

Performance expectations to be met at the end of the first six months:

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of Stamps.com core functionalities, architecture, database schema and code, and can perform testing in these areas
  • Demonstrate your ability to automate system or feature testing for an assigned project
  • Be able to create test design and perform test implementation covering all important and high risk cases
  • Be proficient and a contributor in the SoapUI regression projects and its Groovy scripts
  • Demonstrate expertise to run existing automation tool and analyze the results to find system defects
  • Ability to troubleshoot environmental issues by analyzing server logs
  • Able to clearly write up effective bug report

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science or 2+ years of work experience as Software Developer focusing on automation
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with OOP languages (C#, Java)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with Sql (MSSQL, T-SQL, MySQL)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with scripting languages (PHP, Groovy, Python, PowerShell)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with and troubleshooting general computer hardware, software and networking (Active Directory, Domains, Office, Printers, Scanners)
  • Self-starter, fast and focused learner and able to apply QA concepts and techniques in everyday testing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of the SDLC processes
  • Ability to work independently and mentor quality assurance team members 
  • Ability to discuss technically complex topics with technical and non-technical individuals
  • Experience running and interpreting the results of test automation using industry standard scripting and automation tools
  • Experience using defect-tracking software such as FogBugz or JIRA
