Overview

Stamps.com is seeking a Tax Manager. This person will be essential to all aspects of tax for Stamps.com’s consolidated group (“Company”) including quarterly and annual tax provision; federal and state income tax filings; SEC reporting and disclosures; sales tax compliance; special tax project management; and research/analysis of new tax law and accounting standards. This position will report to the VP, Accounting, and will work closely with the company’s tax consultant.

 

Our Company

Stamps.com® is a publically traded company (NASDAQ:  STMP) which provides Internet-based mailing and shipping solutions in the United States. Under the Stamps.com and Endicia brands, customers use our United States Postal Service (“USPS”) only solutions to mail and ship a variety of mail pieces and packages through the USPS.  Customers using our solutions receive discounted postage rates compared to USPS.com and USPS retail locations on certain mail pieces such as First Class letters and domestic and international Priority Mail® and Priority Mail Express® packages.  Stamps.com was the first ever USPS-approved PC Postage vendor to offer a software only mailing and shipping solution in 1999.  Endicia became a USPS-approved PC Postage vendor in 2000. Under the ShipStation®, ShipWorks® and ShippingEasyTM brands, customers use our multi-carrier solutions to ship packages through multiple carriers such as the USPS, UPS, FedEx and others. Our customers include individuals, small businesses, home offices, medium-size businesses, large enterprises, e-commerce merchants and warehouse shippers. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to legally minimize tax liabilities through informed application of tax laws and regulations
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of the federal consolidated tax, state income tax, and franchise tax returns for Company and subsidiaries on a timely basis
  • Establish appropriate system or processes for tax risk management for the Company
  • Manage external tax authorities and consultants locally and regionally
  • Prepare or assist with quarterly and annual ASC 740 tax provision
  • Prepare/Review various state business filings, local tax registrations, and sales/use tax returns
  • Liaise with tax authorities and provide tax audit support for the Company
  • Prepare quarterly and annual tax footnote disclosures and related supporting memos
  • Perform income tax accounts reconciliation
  • Perform/Assist with the analysis, quantification, and memo documentation of uncertain tax positions
  • Assist with SOX compliance including monitoring controls and testing
  • Manage tax compliance, reporting and filing works for Company
  • Prepare/Assist with quarterly federal and state income tax payments
  • Perform modeling of tax reform/business changes and related impact on federal and state taxes
  • Stay abreast of federal and state legislative changes that may impact tax filings and tax provision
  • Manage annual update of research and development tax credit study
  • Provide internal tax advisory services and support on business operations and ad-hoc business initiatives.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of tax experience in public accounting (big 4 preferred) and/or corporate tax department
  • CPA and/or Masters in Tax preferred
  • Understanding of ASC 740 accounting for income taxes with relevant experience
  • Prior experience in tax strategy implementation, planning support and project management will be advantageous
  • Experience with the tax implications of mergers and acquisitions a plus
  • Ability to manage projects and lead discussion to ensure project completion with accuracy and timeliness
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
  • Good written, verbal and inter-personal skills
  • Team player with strong analytical and problem solving personality
  • Detail-oriented and self-starter with ability to prioritize and multi-task in tight deadline situations
