    Stamps.com’s Finance & Accounting team is responsible for reporting accurate financial reporting to the public and investors, as well as driving strategic and financial decision-making processes across the Company. We partner with Senior Management and business unit leaders to analyze and drive long-term business performance.

     

    As a member of Stamps.com’s (NSDQ: STMP) F&A team which drives the quarterly financial reporting, the Staff Accountant will play an integral role to ensure that reporting financials to the Company’s stakeholders and potential investors is fair and accurate. The role will also ensure a smooth quarterly external audit in order to meet various regulatory (SEC, Sarbanes-Oxley, PCI) requirements. This role will report to the Sr. Manager of Accounting and is responsible for, but not limited to, maintaining the day-to-day accounting and treasury functions, data analysis, and performing general accounting functions as required.     Responsibilities

    Primary Objectives:

    1. Prepare month-end close related journal entries and account reconciliations
    2. Handle day to day treasury functions
    3. Assist in other ad hoc analysis or analytics as needed

    Qualifications

    Essential Position Duties:

    1. Prepare month-end close related journal entries and account reconciliations
      • Prepare journal entries and underlying analysis to support the month-end close process
      • Perform reconciliations of data from multiple sources and systems to the general ledger
      • Prepare operational accounting reconciliations for various business needs
      • Prepare various deliverables to support the preparation of the financial statements and/or requests for information from all business functions as well as external auditors
    1. Handle day to day treasury functions
      • Work closely with various departments to gather and analyze data used for the preparation of journal entries, as well as, assist in establishing and documenting processes around the internal controls surrounding the tasks performed, as well as, attend various meetings and document recaps of items discussed.
      • Monitor banking activity on a daily basis.
      • Process payments and deposits across multiple bank accounts structure, and run daily banking reports for distribution to various departments.
      • Prepare invoices and monitor collection activities.
      • Work closely with AP and review coding of invoices entered.
      • Perform cash applications. 
    1. Assist in other ad hoc analysis or analytics as needed
      • Perform research for technical accounting purposes
      • Compile analysis/reports for the quarterly reviews, annual audit, tax return preparation or other audits
      • Assist with any other ad hoc projects, analysis or analytics as needed

    Education and/or Experience:                                                   

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or finance
    • Two (2+) years of accounting experience
    • CPA or CPA-track preferred

    Computer/Software/Application Proficiency:                                          

    • Proficiency in Excel formulas, vlookups, and pivot tables
    • Experience with top tier ERP and related reporting applications

    Skills and Knowledge:

    • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
    • Dependable work ethic
    • Solid understanding of US GAAP, general accounting processes and internal controls, and financial analysis tools

    Scheduling Requirements:

    • Flexibility with regard to work hours, including possible unplanned overtime
