    The Financial Operations group at Stamps.com ensures that money is properly collected from and credited to the hundreds of thousands of customers of Stamps.com and its subsidiaries. This includes automated recurring billing and invoice generation, payment processing, credit extension, fraud prevention and more.

     

    The Director, Financial Operations is responsible for both business and technical aspects of the financial flows through our production technology systems.  You will collaborate with the Financial Operations team to analyze and improve our systems, identify and resolve issues as well as provide detailed guidance to the Product and Software Development teams where necessary.  You will also be responsible for managing relationships with new and existing service providers. This position reports to the VP, Financial Operations.

    Responsibilities

    Primary Objectives:

    1. Prioritize technical fixes and improvements across billing/payment processing portfolio.
    2. Lead and develop operations team.
    3. Manage relationships with service providers.
    4. Analyze payment flows for issues and opportunities.

    Essential Position Duties:

    1. Prioritize technical fixes and improvements across billing/payment processing portfolio.
    • Improve accuracy, reliability, reporting, and cost-effectiveness, of various systems including:
    • Billing, both individual and enterprise.
    • Payment processing and fraud prevention.
    • AR portfolio management and credit extension.
    • Create reporting and operations recommendations for new and recent product launches
    • Drive development of technical infrastructure to support Finance-driven projects.
    1. Lead and develop operations team.
    • Supervisory responsibilities including goal setting, coaching, and performance management.
    • Define Performance Management/Review Process.
    • Build processes with collaboration from marketing, sales and customer success teams to ensure that customers are accurately billed.
    1. Manage relationships with service providers.
    • Consolidate multiple service vendors through competitive RFPs.
    • Build positive relationships with key service providers while enforcing SLAs and expanding scope of operations.
    1. Analyze payment flows for issues and opportunities.
    • Manage credit portfolio for risk and return.
    • Minimize payment processing expense.

    Qualifications

    Additional Job Duties:

    • Sit for prolonged periods of time.
    • Utilize wrist and hands for a prolonged period of time.
    • Walk short distances.
    • Stand for short periods.

    Required Education and/or Experience:                                                              

    • Eight (8) plus years of experience in operational role or quantitative financial analysis.
    • Four (4) plus years of direct supervisory experience.
    • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative discipline (economics, accounting, math, engineering) or equivalent experience in a quantitative field.
    • Sales or vendor contract negotiation experience required.

     

    Preferred Education and/or Experience (if applicable):                                                               

    • MBA preferred.
    • Software development a plus.

    Skills and Knowledge:

    • Quantitative analysis working with large data sets (>150K rows)
    • Accurately and precisely describe software performance requirements
    • Basic creditworthiness analysis
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    Computer/Software/Application Proficiency:                                                   

    • Microsoft Office – Advanced Excel, Basic PowerPoint.
    • Experience with a programming language (Python a plus) outside of coursework
    • Data extraction (SQL, Tableau, Business Objects, or similar).
